“Yumi’s Cells 2” will be airing its final 2 episodes this week and fans are hesitant to say their goodbyes. The show and our lead couple, Yumi and Yu Babi, were loved by fans. With the last episodes around the corner, let’s reminisce our favorite moments between Yu Babi and Yumi that gave us butterflies. The article contains spoilers.
1. When Babi Tilted The Umbrella To Cover Yumi From The Rain
Starting with episode 2, after Yu Babi confessed his feelings and asked Yumi to date him. Even though Yumi rejects him then, she becomes consciously aware of Yu Babi and even starts to like him. The two cross paths in the store and, coincidentally, both intend to make curry for dinner. She helped him with getting all the ingredients but as they stepped out, it began to rain. Yumi had brought her umbrella but Yu Babi had not expected it to rain. Yumi offered that they share the umbrella since her house was nearby and Babi could take the umbrella. As the two walk, Babi makes sure that Yumi doesn’t get wet. In fact, he tilted the umbrella more to her side even though his shoulder was soaked in rain. The scene makes the viewers awe-struck, especially since Babi was rejected by Yumi. He was still looking out for her. Proving that he had indeed fallen for her.
2. When Yumi Confessed Her Feelings To Yu Babi
By the end of episode 2, Yumi gets to know that Ruby (Lee YooBi) set up a blind date for Babi with a friend of hers. This alerted her. She didn’t want him to go on the date but was still hesitant to confess her feelings. When the two meet in the morning after the supposed ‘date’, Yumi is curious to know if Babi really went on the date. Though Babi says he did, Yumi soon finds out that he had not. He called the girl, telling her that he liked someone else. This made Yumi’s sensitive cells more powerful and she experienced heart fever. A state where she falls in love without the interference of a love cell. Yumi runs to the park to find Babi but the heart fever state soon fades away as she gets demotivated. When she is about to leave, Babi sees her and calls her. Yumi then found her confidence again and told him about her feelings. The moment was all that fans were waiting for and marked the start of their journey. The scene also holds a special meaning because Yumi, who was heart broken and struggling to come to terms with her feelings, finally comes to a decision. Yu Babi’s expression was priceless, it really showed that his heart skipped a beat upon hearing those words.
3. Yu Babi And Yumi’s First Kiss
Soon after, the two begin dating, but kept it as a secret since they were colleagues. We are shown that some days have passed away since the two began dating. Babi would drop Yumi after he got a car. Of course, we all missed the Lust Cell from season 1, and we saw it again in episode 3. After dinner, Babi gives Yumi mint candy to eat. At first, the cells believe that he gave it because of the rich food but soon the lust cell steps in and gives another perspective. Though unlike many times, it’s prediction comes true and Yu Babi leans for a kiss. We are sure the fans were screaming above their screens at the scene. The kiss showed the passion they held and even throughout the drama, their kisses held the same passion which displayed that their love did not decrease, yet if anything, they fell further in love.
4. The Time Yu Babi Placed His Trust In Yumi
In episode 5, Yumi and Babi decide to spend Christmas Eve at Babi’s house. Yumi had quit her job to pursue a career as a writer, so struggling with expenses, she decides to sell a rice cooker she won in a contest. Though she fails to have any customers except one. The user with the name Patdol. Soon, Yumi decides to sell it to him. What Yumi was unaware of was that Patdol was in fact Gu Woong (Ahn BoHyun). Yumi was surprised to see him and acted rather coldly. She did regret it later and when he asked to meet her again, she decided to go because she didn’t want him to keep waiting in the cold. Yumi tells Babi that she needs to go and he allows it without any questions. We got to know that Babi had read the message and suspected Patdol to be Gu Woong and was not really happy with the idea. He still let her go. He decides to place his trust in Yumi and their love. This showed an important aspect in a relationship, and that was trust. Rather than having him be all grumpy about it, Babi remains calm and even continues to bake the pizza. Even though he had insecurities of his own, his trust in Yumi beat them all. The scene absolutely stole our hearts, especially how Babi runs to the door when Yumi comes back.
5. Yu Babi’s Undying Support To Help Yumi Chase Her Dreams
We were introduced to Yumi’s passion for writing in season 1, and the reviving of her Writer Cell. Even in season 1, it was Babi who identified her talent and offered her to join the marketing team instead. Later, in “Yumi’s Cells 2”, Yumi’s desire to start a career in writing becomes stronger and Babi completely supports her. Even though everyone discouraged her about quitting her job and that it was too late for a fresh start, Babi stood beside her. Every time Yumi lost a contest, he was there to comfort her and make her feel better. In episode 7, Yumi loses her 11th contest. During this time, Yu Babi was transferred to Jeju Island and Yumi came over to spend time with him. When the two meet at the airport, Yumi tried to pretend that she was not affected by the results when, in fact, she felt even more demotivated and disheartened. Yu Babi, though, saw through her and comforted her. Just then, Yumi got a text from a publishing company that they liked her story and wanted to publish it. Yumi was over the moon but Babi’s excitement was no less. During Yumi’s journey, Babi encouraged her to dream again and even celebrated her success. Even after the two broke up, Babi still looked up her web novel. And even congratulated her when they met again. With “Yumi’s Cells 2”’s final near, we are curious to know what will be their ending. But at the same time, no matter what happens, the viewers admired their journey and heart-felt moments.
