There are K-Pop fans across the globe who share the same passion. But on online platforms, it is hard to know about each other’ stories and K-Pop life. Even if we are in the same fandom, it is hard to get to know each other. So at Kpopmap, we started the Kpopmap Fan Interview Project to get to know more about K-Pop fans from different countries: more about their K-Pop life and tastes and to give them the opportunity to share with our readers about their favorite group(s) and bias. Mira is the next fan to answer our questions. She is from the US and and is a fan of P1Harmony, and particulary of JongSeob. Check out how she entered the fandom, the songs and content she advises to new fans, and much more! Can you introduce yourself? Where are you from? My name is Mira, from the US! How and when did you enter the fandom? I became a P1ece in September of 2020, when FNC announced that they would be debuting soon. I first saw KeeHo and his red hair caught my eye, then once the other members’ photos were released, I was completely hooked. What are the reasons why you love your favorite group? Their creativity, uniqueness and many talents. Those boys can sing and dance, but they can REALLY act. They also show a lot of passion when they work which makes me admire them even more, because if you can show your love for something then I know it’s meant for you. Who caught your attention at first and why? Soul! He was around my age, and he is a dance prodigy. Dancing is a personal passion of mine as well, so I felt drawn to him when they debuted. I still adore that boy with my entire being and he needs to be protected at all costs. Who is your bias, and why? My bias is currently JongSeob, but I kind of consider myself OT6? JongSeob is one of the most talented young people I’ve seen in this industry. He’s funny, chill, cute, smart and unapologetically himself. Him and I are so much alike, that it makes me want to better myself to achieve what he’s achieved as his age. We’re the same age currently, and he’s already been extremely successful! Can you recommend a title track and a B-side track for new fans? For a title track, I’d recommend ‘Do it Like This’. It has a lot of dynamics, it’s hard to not love it, the choreography is mesmerizing and all the members shine so well. For a B-Side, I think everyone NEEDS to listen to ‘Before The Dawn’. It shows off the diversity in all their music, and the many styles they can pull off. But honestly, please listen to their entire discography, zero skips all around. Can you recommend a fancam, V Live, cover video, cover dance, or individual content video of your bias to our readers? JongSeob’s 220628 “PLOG” is THEE most comforting video for me, and I want everyone to experience that same feeling. He just talks about life, and experiences and recent things happening, and it feels very warm and home-like! Can you also do the same type of recommendation for the group? I am practically begging for everyone to watch their Billie Eilish Medley Choreography. It’s so entrancing and complete art. I also have to say that their debut film, which is an actual movie, was amazingly put together. It was such a rare concept for a group to debut with a movie, and I think more people would enjoy than they believe. Can you share with us one of your favorite lyrics? “With you, we can make it, that makes us stronger.” When KeeHo sings this… just butterflies, every single time. This singular lyric got the fandom through some terrible times. Are there any words from the members you would like to share? “You have to enjoy the present and the current self since you are on your path of doing something you love, and you have to like yourself at the moment and have confidence in yourself as well. I’m doing it too but it’s not that easy.” - KeeHo “You are doing well so don’t worry, and you are right. Trust yourself.” - JiUng What is your favorite group/bias’ influence on your daily life? P1Harmony inspires me to feel, to love, to be honest with myself, and pursue my dreams. They’re extremely legitimate about everything that they do and they encourage for their fans to be the same way. When I see them and I hear them, they’re always talking about staying true to yourself and that’s the most important thing for me and that is the most important thing for other young P1ECES to hear. On the other hand, Jongseob inspires me and remind me that there’s nothing wrong with pursuing something that you’re passionate about, especially if you’re young. A lot of people seem to believe that age should prevent you from doing what you love and what you believe in but JongSeob is the direct contradiction of that belief. Have you been given new opportunities through K-Pop? I absolutely have. I got to meet my best friend of five years, Jo. She means the world to me and has helped me through so much, shoutout to My JoJo! I also got to meet my best friend of two years, Caid, after countless nights of planning and crying and wanting to see each other. Caid is also extremely precious and dear to me, and has stuck by my side for a long time. When I went to the P1Harmony concert in March 2022, and I saw the two of them, I have never felt so relieved and so warm even though it was freezing cold outside. I also had the privilege of attending a random dance play, and meeting a lot of P1ECES just like me and befriending many, who I still talk to today. What is your favorite side of fangirling/fanboying? I love the adrenaline rush I get everytime that they have a comeback. I also completely adore freaking out and hearing all my friends freak out with me every time the boys post something on Twitter, like a selca or an album announcement. Do you feel there are any misunderstandings, things that are not well known, or any prejudices about your favorite group from other fans (non-fans)? A lot of people like to reduce P1Harmony to their humor. They’re super funny dudes, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve seen them go viral for their jokes more than their music. And there’s nothing wrong with non-fans thinking that they’re funny, but if you can’t support them in all aspects then maybe you don’t need to use them as the butt of your joke, you know? They aren’t just a funny group, they’re also extremely talented and smart. Respect them as artists, or do not address them. Mira’s message for JongSeob, P1Harmony & P1ece: To JongSeob, all of P1Harmony, and to every P1ece; don’t let anybody tell you but you can’t achieve what do you want to achieve. When P1Harmony became a group so many people were in a dark place, were having a hard time, and simply just needed a hand to hold. P1Harmony gave us that hand and gave us that comfort and gave many people, who probably would not be here anymore, a shoulder to lean on when they didn’t have anyone. Now that P1Harmony is a group, pieces vowed to never let them fail or let them fall off. The same way P1 harmony is here for us we will always be there for them as P1ECE no matter what. Thank you for everything JongSeob, and thank you for everything P1Harmony. I found a wonderful family in P1ece! Thank you for answering our questions, Mira.
